We roamed around Hongdae and we passed by this busy stall that sells fried chicken with cheese. We needed to eat a little snack and being the cheese freaks that we are, we gave in and got ourself a cup. A lot of people were lining up when we arrived. I had to line up on the right side of the stall to order and waited for my number to be called on the left side.

We had a mini pre-wedding shoot the day before and we told our photographer that we were going to Hongdae the next day. She suggested that we try her most favorite cake in Hongdae, and so we did. She told us that she got this as her birthday cake last year so we got really curious. We made our way to Peony after navigating through Hongdae’s roads of endless shops selling everything from clothes to accessories to street food and just about anything.

After an afternoon of shooting photos for our wedding, we were so tired. I was craving for snowy cheese fried chicken so we went to this street in Myeongdong where a lot of fried chicken restaurants were. I initially wanted to eat at Nene Chicken but they don’t have a nearby branch so we settled to the fried chicken restaurant with the least wait to get a table. This was why we ended up eating here.

We ate here on our first night in Seoul. It was raining so we looked for a noodle place around Myeongdong. I didn’t think I’d like it that much because I didn’t think I’d love any other noodle dish like how I love ramen but this wasn’t so bad! They are a definitely Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant for a reason.

We actually ate here twice, once for lunch and the other time for late dinner on our last night in Seoul. We were so preoccupied with going around Myeongdong that night that we forgot to eat dinner. They were still open at 10pm so we just ate there. We ate at their Myeongdong branch on both times but they also have another branch in Hongdae.

Date Visited: September 2, 2019

Will Return: Yes, especially on rainy days.

This was my second time eating at Ramen Yushoken because when I first ate here a few years ago, I remember not being impressed by their food. I don’t know if it was just me or my mood at that time but whenever the best-ramen-in-cebu topic comes up during my recent conversations with my friends, Ramen Yushoken is always mentioned. Another reason why I have only eaten here once before is that it’s far from where I live. I had an appointment in Mandaue that morning so my fiancée and I decided to give this place a second try.
